Position Overview:

Hamilton Chinese Alliance Church (HCAC) is prayerfully seeking a Family & Children Pastor to launch and lead a comprehensive, sustainable family discipleship program. This is a new position needed for the 2026 ministry year, created to strengthen the existing multifaceted children and youth (nursery to Grade 6) program and to outreach/equip parents as primary disciplers in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural church context - English-primary, with strong ability to connect with Mandarin-speaking parents an important asset.

Employment Details:-

  • Position Type: Full-time preferred (part-time will be considered for the right candidate)
  • Start Date: As soon as possible (2026)
  • Reports To: Chair - Board of Elders
  • Language Assets: English primary with Mandarin strongly preferred (for parent partnership and congregational integration)
  • Compensation: Commensurate with training and experience

Role Summary:-

The Family & Children Pastor to provide vision, pastoral leadership, and hands-on oversight of the family/children ministry, working in collaboration with pastors & ministry leaders, in the following areas:

1. Children’s ministry (nursery–Grade 6)

2. Family discipleship and parent equipping

3. Outreach to the large community base families in Hamilton and surrounding areas

Key Responsibilities:-

A) Children’s Ministry Leadership (Nursery–Grade 6)

  • Building upon the existing “Sweet-Family” and Sunday school programs, lead the design and implementation of a gospel-centered ministry (Sunday, midweek as applicable, special events).
  • Select/implement curriculum; ensure consistent teaching quality and clear spiritual outcomes.
  • Establish operational systems for volunteer scheduling, classroom support, supplies, check-in/out, and communication with parents.

B) Family Discipleship & Parent Equipping

  • Develop an overall family discipleship strategy that aligns with the church mission.
  • Equip parents as the primary spiritual leaders of their children through coaching, tools, and rhythms that support faith practices at home.
  • Provide pastoral care to families (as appropriate) and coordinate referrals/resources when specialized care is needed.

C) Outreach

  • Leveraging existing ministries and community partners, creating a comprehensive gospel-based program that will be attractive to children and families in Hamilton and surrounding areas.

Qualifications:-

Spiritual & Character

  • A mature, growing relationship with Jesus Christ; evidence of Christian character and servant leadership.
  • A clear calling to family & children ministry and a commitment to disciple-making in the local church.

Theological Training (Flexible)

  • MDiv / MCS / MTS (or equivalent) welcomed; relevant ministry experience and demonstrated fruitfulness are highly valued.

Experience & Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and build children/youth/family ministries, including curriculum use, volunteer development, and ministry systems.
  • Strong relational and communication skills with children, teens, parents, and volunteers.
  • Cultural intelligence and comfort serving in a multi-lingual church context
  • English fluency required; Mandarin/Cantonese strongly preferred (especially for parent engagement).
